Who is responsible for your data
Francis Musiime, The Open Book Project, 42655 Solingen, Germany. Email: f.musiime@outlook.com.
Grant applications
If you apply for a grant, the application form opens your own email app and you send us your name, email address, the type of support you need, the number of children in your family and your story. We use these details only to assess your application and contact you about it, based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and on taking steps toward a possible grant (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We keep unsuccessful applications for 6 months after our decision. For families we support, we keep their application for as long as we support them and for 12 months afterwards. We then delete them. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us.
Donations
If you donate with PayPal, the payment is handled by PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22–24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg, which is responsible for the data it processes. Please see PayPal's privacy statement. We receive your name, email address and the amount you gave.
If you donate by bank transfer, we see your name, account details, the amount and the payment reference on our bank statement. We use donation details to manage donations and keep records as required by law (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR), and keep them for as long as accounting rules require.
Contacting us by email
If you email us, we use your message and contact details only to reply to you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and delete them when they are no longer needed.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email us. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen.
